Today, I wanted to talk about two cities that benefit from a particular place in my heart. The first, as you already know, is Paris. The second is Rome.
It was after visiting the Italian capital for the first time that I learned that these two cities were linked by an exclusive twinning, aiming at promoting France and Italy on cultural, scientific, touristic, security and transport aspects.
Why this exclusivity? It was, among others, for the motto that accompanies this partnership: “Only Paris is worthy of Rome; only Rome is worthy of Paris.”
Indeed, to me, Rome is the only city able to equal Paris; the richness of its history and art spread in the smallest details, fascinates the world with its splendor.
It is above all the most immense architectural and archaeological site in the world; every architect and historian non limited by tendencies will admit it.
The seven hills
Apart from this twinning, different famous monuments prove the link between our two capitals, as the Lateran Basilica. One doesn’t have to remind the taste for coffee that both our nations have, even if we drink it differently.
In fact, I was drinking coffee during a beautiful morning when I decided to go back to Rome with Elena, for well-deserved holidays.
I can’t wait to take her to that city which cannot be entirely visited, no matter how often we go there. Since all the ways lead to Rome, why would I look for some other place that would lead me to Rome anyway?
It is easy to find happiness there, with all the museums, antic monuments, fountains and obelisks.
Dear readers, Rome and Paris make us think that the cities built on the seven hills are the cradle of humanity.
See you soon!
