La Place Vendôme

The history of la Place Vendôme

La Place Vendôme is located in the heart of Paris: a symbol of French-style elegance recognized all over the world. It overlooks the luxurious district of the 1st arrondissement, from Madeleine, through Rue Rivoli, to the Louvres!

Behind this famous spot hides a history of royalty and empire... Indeed, King Louis XIV launched its construction with the aim of creating one of the most beautiful places in Paris; he will put an equestrian statue in his effigy right in the heart of it!  It was in 1792 that Napoleon decided to replace the statue of Louis XIV with the famous bronze column... Did you know that this column was created from 1200 cannons snatched from the enemies of war?

Luxury à la Française

I like to go to Place Vendôme to stroll in front of the beautiful shops that are part of it! Temple of high jewellery, you will be able to admire the creations of famous French houses such as Cartier, Chaumet or Boucheron...

La Place has welcomed many French artists such as Gabrielle Chanel, Proust and Léon-Paul Fargue. As you will have understood, this historical place inspires dreams... I invite you to go there to admire this sublime jewel of Paris!
